Welcome to the September 2025 TranscenDance® Tribune
This month, we embrace the spirit of Renewal & Rejuvenation, a reminder that no matter where we are on our journey, we can always return to harmony. September invites us to release what no longer serves, breathe in fresh possibility, and let our spirits be restored through the healing power of movement and intention.
In this issue of the TranscenDance® Tribune, we spotlight the inspiring story of Facilitator Karie Cassell, whose path reveals the profound renewal that comes when we reconnect with our authentic selves and allow forgotten parts of us to come alive again. You’ll also discover empowering practices to refresh your body, mind, and spirit, along with a special feature celebrating National Dance Day—an invitation for all of us to step into joy and community through the universal language of dance.
You’ll also discover ways to connect with the TranscenDance® community through our TranscenDance® Live Virtual Classes, which will be on Saturday, September 6th at 10 am Pacific and Saturday, September 20th at 10 am Pacific.

The TranscenDance® Tribune is dedicated to nurturing our conscious dance community and celebrating the healing power of the mind-body-spirit connection with a new issue every month. Back issues are also available online at https://bti.com/tribune
Return to Harmony
Spotlighting Facilitator Karie Cassell
For Karie Cassell, movement was never the obvious path. A lifelong wellness professional and registered dietitian, she spent over 30 years serving others through science and structure. “In my mind, my daughter was the dancer and I was the scientist,” she shares. “My level of dance was playing a mean air guitar or moving T-Rex style. Flow wasn’t part of my vocabulary.”
When she joined the Brave Thinking Institute in 2018 to become a certified Life Coach, Karie was certain she was stepping away from her career in health. “At that point, I was saying no thank you to wellness. I thought I was going to pivot completely and leave that part of me behind.”
And yet, something deeper was stirring. Over time, she found herself drawn into the presence of Jennifer Joy Jiménez. “It wasn’t just her dancing; it was her embodiment of well-being, her whole message. That started to pull me in.”
Karie started in the Vibrant Healthy Women program and experienced profound shifts in body image and self-love, and attended multiple retreats. This is where she was introduced to TranscenDance®. At first, she felt uncomfortable and self-conscious, hesitant to see herself in photos or move freely on camera. But slowly, something began to change. Through the TranscenDance®, she found healing not just in her body, but in how she saw herself. “That transformation has been huge for me. To release that self-consciousness and feel free in my own skin, it’s been life-changing.”
Karie’s decision to finally step forward and become a TranscenDance Facilitator wasn’t a single moment, but rather an inner knowing that had built over time and leaned in with courage. “I’ve learned to notice resistance. Every time I feel that hesitation, whether it was going to a retreat or stepping into something new, I remind myself that the breakthrough is usually on the other side. So instead of backing away, I get curious and move toward it.”
That mindset changed everything. Then came a moment of remembering. “When I first went to university, I was going to do a Bachelor of Music. I wanted to become a choreographer. I knew music was medicine. But I left that behind when I chose dietetics.”
During the TranscenDance® Facilitator Training, that long-forgotten part of her came rushing back. “When Jennifer took us behind the curtain with the music—the pairing, the timing, the transitions—I thought, this is choreography. Suddenly, parts of me I had parked came alive again.”
Professionally, her work has come full circle. “I started out saying no more dietitian… now I love my private practice again. I have so many more tools. As I help my clients, it energizes me.” Today, her coaching blends nutrition science, life mastery, and TranscenDance®into a holistic model that meets people at every level—mind, body, and spirit.
She describes her transformation with a metaphor that stays close to her heart: “It’s like two pianos side by side. If you strike middle C on one, the other vibrates. But if the second piano’s strings are dusty, that vibration gets blocked. I was that dusty piano—buttoned up, out of flow. Slowly, the dust has shaken off. Now, when life strikes middle C, my strings vibrate in harmony.”
Karie also reclaims the deeper meaning of her profession. “The true meaning of the word diet actually means a way of life. Dieta—it’s a way of living. And that’s what this work really is: a way of life, a way of being in harmony.”
For her, TranscenDance® is exactly that: medicine for the whole self. “It’s not just movement, it’s healing, flow, femininity.”
Like dust shaken from piano strings, Karie has found herself vibrating in harmony once more—renewed, rejuvenated, and alive.

Awaken Your Energy
5 Practices for Renewal & Rejuvenation
Just as the seasons remind us that life continually renews itself, we too are invited to refresh our minds, bodies, and spirits. Renewal doesn’t require a grand overhaul—it’s found in small, intentional practices that bring us back to our natural rhythm of vitality and joy.
Here are five ways to embrace renewal and rejuvenation this month:
- Begin with Breath
Your breath is the most accessible reset button you carry. Pause for a moment, close your eyes, and inhale deeply through your nose, exhaling slowly through your mouth. Even three mindful breaths can clear mental fog and restore calm. Ritual: Start your morning with three breaths of gratitude, welcoming fresh energy into your day. - Move to Release
Stagnant energy collects in the body when we stay still for too long. Renewal comes through movement—stretching, walking, or dancing. Let your body guide you, even if it’s just swaying to a favorite song in your kitchen. Each motion is an invitation to shake off what no longer serves you. - Refresh Your Space
Our environments mirror our inner world. Declutter a drawer, tidy your workspace, or add a plant or candle to bring fresh energy into your home. Small shifts in your surroundings create big shifts in your mood and outlook. - Nourish from Within
Rejuvenation isn’t only about what you let go of—it’s also about what you bring in. Choose foods, conversations, and experiences that feel life-giving. Ask yourself, Does this energize me or deplete me? Then lean toward the choices that replenish. - Rest and Reconnect
True rejuvenation requires moments of stillness. Give yourself permission to unplug, take a nap, journal, or simply sit in nature. In those pauses, your spirit has room to catch up and your body the chance to restore.
Renewal is not about becoming someone new—it’s about returning to your most authentic self, dusting off what dims your light, and remembering the radiant energy that has always been within you.
Dancing Into Joy: Celebrating National Dance Day
National Dance Day, a celebration of movement, creativity, and the joy of dance, was first launched in 2010 by Nigel Lythgoe, the visionary co-creator of So You Think You Can Dance and co-founder of American Dance Movement (formerly known as the Dizzy Feet Foundation). With the support of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, a resolution was introduced to officially recognize dance not only as a powerful form of artistic expression but also as a valuable practice that supports health and well-being.
This annual celebration is taking place on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, inviting people of all ages and abilities to get moving and experience the transformative power of dance.
And what better way to honor the rhythm and energy of this day than through TranscenDance®? This conscious movement practice is more than just a form of expression—it’s a pathway to rejuvenation, creativity, and embodied joy. Through its ten phases, TranscenDance® invites us to release stress, tap into authentic self-expression, and reconnect with our deepest vitality.
Here are four ways to celebrate National Dance Day the TranscenDance® way:
- Dance for Yourself
Put on a favorite song and let your body move however it wishes. No choreography, no judgment—just pure expression. Even five minutes of free-form movement can clear stress and awaken joy. - Dance in Community
Invite friends, family, or neighbors to share a spontaneous dance moment. Whether online or in person, moving together reminds us of the healing power of connection. - Dance with Intention
Choose a word—renewal, freedom, gratitude, or healing—and let your movements embody that intention. This simple ritual transforms dance into a living prayer. - Dance for the World
Imagine your dance as medicine rippling outward. Send love, peace, and light into the world through your movement, trusting that joy has the power to heal and inspire far beyond what you see.
National Dance Day reminds us of what TranscenDance® teaches every time we step onto the floor: you don’t have to be a ‘dancer’ to dance—you only have to show up and move with intention. Movement is freedom. Joy is always just one step away.
