Sacred Movement
Spotlighting Facilitator Carolyn Fish
When Carolyn Fish stepped into the world of TranscenDance™, it wasn’t just a new chapter—it was a return to something long-forgotten and deeply essential.
In January 2024, Carolyn attended a weekend intensive with a coach from the Brave Thinking Institute (BTI). Though already an experienced psychotherapist, she found herself deeply moved by the experience and curious about exploring new modalities of healing. “That weekend impacted me so much,” she reflects. “I felt called to expand, to diversify, and to reconnect with something deeper. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for, but something inside me said: keep going.”
While exploring the BTI website, Carolyn came across a video for TranscenDance™. “I just thought—I’m supposed to do this,” she says. “It was a new type of feeling, something I hadn’t really experienced before. It was so strong and clear that I registered for a call to learn more, and before I’d even taken a class, I signed up to become a facilitator.”
Despite no formal dance background, Carolyn quickly discovered that TranscenDance™ spoke a language she already knew intuitively—through movement, energy, healing, and heart. “I’ve practiced yoga for years and understood the mind-body connection, especially in trauma work,” she says. “But TranscenDance™ brought in the missing piece: the freedom to move in a way that’s authentic, unrehearsed, and soul-led.”
That freedom stood in stark contrast to her earliest dance experience as a child. “I loved dancing,” she remembers, “but my first teacher was so harsh, so critical. Everyone in the class would leave crying. It shut me down.” Though she dabbled in dance again later in life—belly dance, Latin cultural groups—structured choreography and the pressure of performance left her longing for something more fluid, more joyful.
“TranscenDance™ offered exactly that,” she says. “No choreography, no pressure to get it ‘right.’ Just pure connection with your body. That’s what makes it so special.”
Her partner experienced that power firsthand. After Carolyn’s first facilitator training session, she was eager to practice the stages she had learned. “He’s not a dancer,” she laughs. “But I asked him, ‘Can I just practice these stages on you?’ It was late, and we had only done the first few stages of training, but I really wanted to try it out.” He agreed. Carolyn guided him through the first three stages, reading from her manual as she went. When she paused, he asked, “What’s next?” They continued through the entire practice. “He loosened up and even added his own little moves. He totally got out of his paradigm and embraced it.” That night, he slept deeply. “When he woke up the next morning, he said, ‘That might be the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.’ He’s been a big supporter ever since.”
Since launching her own classes in Ontario in August 2024, Carolyn has witnessed that same liberation unfold for others. She recalls the woman who, after her first class, said, “This is what I’ve been looking for, for the past 20 years.” Another participant, a real estate agent who hadn’t danced in nearly two decades, found such joy and safety in her class that he returned again and again—braving snowstorms and flat tires just to be there. “It’s a brave experience for many,” Carolyn notes. “People want to be told what to do, and this invites them to trust themselves instead. That’s powerful.”
As a facilitator, Carolyn’s joy is twofold—she receives the benefits of the practice herself while also sharing them with others. “I used to think I wasn’t an athlete, that exercise wasn’t for me. But TranscenDance™ showed me that movement can be joyful, nourishing, and deeply holistic. It’s supported my mental wellness, my stress, my physical health, and my embodiment.”
Beyond the dance floor, TranscenDance™ has transformed Carolyn’s life in ways she never expected. It sparked a new business, deepened community connections, and helped her overcome the vulnerability of being seen. “Promoting my work online was uncomfortable at first,” she admits. “But I’ve grown so much. Now, TranscenDance™ feels easy. Coaching is the new frontier, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
That future includes integrating BTI coaching with TranscenDance™ offerings, exploring adult–child movement classes, and eventually leading retreats in Mexico—her partner’s homeland and a place she dreams of calling home during Canadian winters. “My vision is to offer sacred retreats by the ocean,” she says. “To create spaces where people can come alive, reconnect, and remember who they are.”
At the heart of it all is Carolyn’s belief that movement is medicine. Whether in a studio, a kitchen, or online from across the world, TranscenDance™ creates space for people to reclaim their joy.
“TranscenDance helps me tune in—not to what the world says I should do—but to what my body knows I need,” Carolyn says. “You don’t have to be a dancer to dance. You just have to show up.”
And when you do, the flow will find you.

Finding More Freedom and Flow in Your Life
There comes a time when we all yearn to break free from the tight schedules, the mental clutter, the constant push to do more and be more. That quiet longing you feel to breathe more deeply, move more freely, and live with greater ease is not just a passing thought. It’s a sacred invitation to return to your natural rhythm. It’s the call of flow.
Flow is that beautiful state where your mind quiets, your body engages, and time seems to soften its edges. Whether you’ve experienced it through dancing, painting, journaling, being in nature, or losing yourself in a creative moment, flow is freedom in motion. When we consciously make space for it, we open ourselves to a more authentic, joy-filled life.
So how do we find more flow when life feels anything but fluid?
1. Pause and Listen Within
Freedom begins with awareness. In the midst of the busyness, give yourself permission to pause. Even just five minutes of stillness can bring clarity. Ask yourself, What feels heavy right now? What would feel lighter? Your body always knows the truth before your mind does. Breathe deeply, close your eyes, and let your inner wisdom rise.
2. Let Movement Lead You
TranscenDance™ teaches us that our bodies are vessels for transformation. When we move without judgment or choreography, simply following the rhythm of the music and the moment, we create space for energy to shift. Through dance, we remember that freedom isn’t something to chase. It’s something to embody. Put on your favorite song and let your body guide you home.
3. Release Control, Embrace Curiosity
Flow can’t exist where control dominates. Instead of rigidly planning every detail of your day, invite spontaneity. Say yes to something unexpected. Follow a creative impulse. Replace “What should I do?” with “What would feel good right now?” Watch how life begins to open.
4. Declutter What No Longer Serves
Mental and emotional clutter blocks flow. Whether it’s a belief, a relationship, or a habit, if it feels like it’s weighing you down, it might be time to lovingly let it go. Clearing space, inside and out, creates room for inspiration, joy, and freedom to enter.
5. Create Rituals of Renewal
Flow is not a one-time experience; it’s a way of living. Create simple rituals that help you reconnect with it daily: a morning dance, an evening walk, a weekly creative session. Let these be non-negotiable dates with your soul. The more you practice being present, the more life begins to flow with grace.
Finding more freedom and flow isn’t about escaping your life. It’s about returning to it with deeper presence and alignment. It’s about remembering that within you is a current of joy, creativity, and truth that’s always available. All you need to do is move with it.
So, take a deep breath. Loosen your grip. And let yourself flow.
Dancing Through Connection
Celebrating International Day of Friendship on July 30
When the pace of life quickens and our attention is pulled in many directions, the International Day of Friendship offers a gentle reminder of what truly matters: We are not meant to journey alone.
Friendship is more than a bond between people—it’s a bridge that connects hearts, heals wounds, and celebrates life’s highs and lows together. And in the world of TranscenDance™, friendship is felt not just in words but in movement, energy, and presence. When we dance in community, we step into a sacred space where connection transcends conversation. We witness each other. We hold space. We move as individuals and as one.
On this day, we celebrate the friendships that nourish us, the sisterhoods that support our growth, and the shared spaces where we feel seen, safe, and free to be our fullest selves.
Here are a few soul-nurturing ways to honor the International Day of Friendship:
- Dance Together: Invite a friend to move with you. Create a playlist of songs that light you up and let your bodies speak a shared language of joy.
- Reach Out: Call or message someone who’s impacted your life. A small note of gratitude can deepen your bond and open hearts.
- Hold Space: Friendship isn’t always about fixing. Sometimes the most healing gift is to simply listen, witness, and be with another.
- Celebrate Community: Whether in a TranscenDance™ class or a group circle, notice how the energy shifts when we come together with love and intention.
As we celebrate International Day of Friendship, may we remember that we are each other’s mirrors, muses, and medicine. And may we continue to dance—side by side, heart to heart—into the radiant light of connection.
Here’s to friendship, in motion and in spirit.
