If you want to improve your health, relationships, career AND time and money freedom, add these books to your library today.
After investing the last 45-plus years studying, applying and mentoring others in transformational principles, I’ve found that, in one way or another, every single person wants to live a life of greater abundance.
Not everyone may be able to articulate this, but there’s a yearning and a longing that’s inside each and every one of us – and this includes YOU!
This longing to be abundant goes deeper than just having lots of money. It’s about being wealthy in ALL areas of your life; in other words, not just wealthy in one area while bankrupt in another.
For example, you most likely want to enjoy vibrant health, have fulfilling relationships with those around you, enjoy what you do for a living AND, at the same time, have time and money freedom.
Top Books on Abundance
I’ve studied many books on transformational principles and today, I’m going to share the top books on abundance that I have in my own library and my favorite takeaways from each!
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
This classic was written in 1937. The author, Napoleon Hill, was commissioned to write the book by Andrew Carnegie, who happened to be the wealthiest man in the world at the time.
Carnegie was an amazing man. If you’ve ever been in a public library in the United States, you have Andrew Carnegie to thank. Because that’s how he used the last half of his life — devoting his time and his vast wealth to furthering education.
Carnegie realized that there was an invisible pattern for success that all highly successful people followed, whether they were aware of it or not. And so, Carnegie met with Hill and challenged him to interview highly successful people, so that this pattern could be studied, codified and made available to everyone.
Carnegie generated about 1,000 millionaires in his lifetime through his various businesses and educational endeavors.
But after writing Think and Grow Rich and sharing it with the world, the pattern of success that Napoleon Hill codified in his work helped generate thousands and thousands of millionaires, and this number is still growing.
Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book:
“Every adversity, every failure, every heartbreak, carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
Think and Grow Rich is a curation of the 13 most common success habits of more than 40 millionaires. Napoleon Hill studied their lives, habits, ways of thinking, ways of making decisions, and their ways of overcoming challenges.
According to Hill, the starting point of all achievement is to have a burning desire for the results you want to manifest.
“Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.”
Maybe he’s stating the obvious, but growing rich starts with a deep, burning desire to be wealthy in all areas of your life. And it’s not enough to have a small wish or hope to be wealthy. The kind of desire Hill is talking about is an intense, burning desire.
This desire is met with a plan, a persistence to operate from this plan and change this plan as you get feedback on how the plan’s working.
Hill presents a six-part method to ensure that you actually have a burning desire:
- Fix in your mind the exact result that you would love.
- Determine exactly what you intend to trade for that result.
- Establish a definite date by when you intend to achieve that result.
- Create a definite plan to move yourself from where you are to that result and take the first step immediately.
- Put the four items above into a clear, concise sentence, making sure to specifically describe each part.
- Read that statement aloud twice daily, in the morning and at night.
The key principle in Think and Grow Rich is that a burning desire for a specific result can absolutely be transformed into its physical equivalent!
As Napoleon Hill says in the beginning of this book,
“The subconscious mind acts beneath the surface of our awareness to accomplish what it is directed by our conscious mind to accomplish.”
This book, along with the six-part method for ensuring a burning desire, has made a tremendous difference in my life, and I’m sure that the success secrets that you’ll discover inside it will be truly helpful for you, too.
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles was written in 1910 and is only 86 pages long, but it contains powerful teachings that you can apply to experience greater abundance in your life. The book was also a major inspiration for the bestselling book and film, The Secret.
Now, like many people, you may think that “rich” means money, but money is only one wavelength of what REAL wealth is.
In his book, Wattles speaks of true wealth in terms of having not just financial prosperity, but also in enjoying vibrant health, having fulfilling relationships with those around you, enjoying what you do for a living, and having time and money freedom.
There’s one line in his book in particular that’s always been very, very important to me. He says:
“Learning to think truth in the presence of facts is some of the most rigorous and difficult thinking you’ll ever learn to do, and that’s why so few people ever do it.”
I first read those words more than 30 years ago. I had no idea what he meant by, “the difference between truth and facts.”
Today, on a regular, repeated basis, I coach my clients to look at the so-called “facts” of their lives, and say,
“All right. The facts are that I don’t have the money in my bank account that I’d like right now, or that I can’t see a way through whatever situation I find myself in at the moment. But what’s the TRUTH here?”
The truth is, you are far more powerful than any circumstance, condition or situation that you find yourself in, and you often have access to far more than you may realize in any given moment.
Perhaps you have something you can sell to generate the money you want, or you can give your time and talents to someone who will pay you for it. There are opportunities all around you to create what it is that you desire. THIS is the truth!
In addition to this transformational principle, there are four other key principles in The Science of Getting Rich:
- Think in a certain way.
- Act in a certain way.
- Act in the spirit of gratitude.
- Practice being a person of increase.
You see, for tens of thousands of years, humans could have had light after dark, but we didn’t. This wasn’t because the law of electricity didn’t exist – we just didn’t know how to work with it in a certain way!
Once we learned how the law of electricity worked, we were able to have light any time or place we wanted.
Abundance works the same way – it’s always available and all you need to do is know how to tap into and work with it.
In addition to learning how to think in a certain way, you must also know how to act in a certain way, and you must both think AND act from a place of gratitude. Gratitude is the frequency that’s harmonious with abundance.
Finally, you must practice being a person of increase. It takes some time to understand what being a person of increase really means and to incorporate it into your life, but this is the key to opening the doorway to the freedom you desire.
Working With The Law by Raymond Holliwell
In his seminal book, Working With The Law, Holliwell translated the 11 invisible laws that govern the visible, measurable results we call our own. According to Holliwell, results don’t just happen to us, they happen with us.
One of the laws that he teaches on in Working With the Law is called the Law of Supply. The Law of Supply states three principles:
1. There is an unlimited supply of every good that we can imagine.
We know today, through quantum physics, that there is absolutely no limit to the amount of good we can have in our lives. Scientists now refer to this as “string theory” or dancing filaments of light that are sitting in position – unlimited energy waiting to become whatever good we imagine. But in the late 1950s, Raymond Holliwell was already fully aware of this principle.
2. You and I are entitled to a full and ever-increasing supply of everything we could ever need or desire to live a life we love living.
There’s no lack or limitation in the universe! There is only lack and limitation in our minds. No one can take away someone else’s opportunity to have what they would really love in their life.
3. Everything comes from one infinite source.
A good example of this is your job or your work in the world. Your work is a channel of that source and you bring forth good and allow yourself to receive good in whatever work you’re doing.
But your work is not your source… the Infinite is your source.
Your Invisible Power by Genevieve Behrend
Your Invisible Power was written in 1922. The author, Genevieve Behrend, was widowed when she was in her late 20s. Her husband left her some money. It wasn’t a lot, but the rest of her life would be comfortable.
No matter what she did or where she went, she couldn’t shake the feeling of profound loneliness that she had — not only for her deceased husband, but for a deeper relationship with life itself.
She began to study personal growth, self-development and transformational principles with several different teachers.
One teacher she really wanted to study with was a man by the name of Thomas Troward, but she didn’t have the money to travel from her home in New York to Cornwall, England where he lived…
So every morning and every night, Behrend visualized counting out twenty $1,000 bills. Then, she visualized using the money to purchase passage to London, she imagined herself travelling there on a ship, and being accepted as Troward’s student.
She constantly affirmed to herself,
“My mind is a center of Divine operations.”
During this time, she had a revelation that everything that exists must first begin in the mind.
In her book, she writes,
“There seemed to come up from within me the thought… ‘everything must have its beginning in mind… and this means money as well as everything else.’ My mind accepted this idea, and immediately all the tension of mind and body was relaxed.”
About six weeks later, she received the money she needed to travel and study with Troward.
Genevieve Behrend found a way to think around her problems, keep her mind on the goal, and not pay attention so much to the obstacles. One of her great lines in the book is,
“I declined to be discouraged.”
What a great tool, that we actually can decline to be discouraged!

Activating the Law of Abundance
Many of us have internal programming that prevents us from achieving the level of financial abundance we’d truly love.
Because of this internal programming, we tend to actually block the abundance of the universe from flowing into and through our lives first by the thoughts we think, and then through our actions.
As my good friend Bob Proctor says,
“Most people don’t earn $50,000 a year because they want to earn $50,000 per year… they earn $50,000 per year because they are not aware of how to earn $50,000 per month!”
If you’d love to be more financially abundant, but you’re not sure how to bridge the gap between where you are now, and where you’d truly love to be…
Here are 3 powerful prosperity practices that will help you rewire your internal programming, so that you can begin attracting greater abundance.
These practices only take a few minutes each to implement in your day-to-day life, and while they’re simple, they are extremely powerful.
These practices will support you in shifting to a higher frequency of thought and, as a result of this, you’ll find that your external results will shift very, very quickly!
PROSPERITY PRACTICE #1: Be grateful for what you already have.
Often, we can fall into a way of thinking that what we currently have isn’t “enough.”
However, instead of focusing on how what you currently have is not enough, shift your thinking so that you express gratitude for what you do have.
There’s nothing wrong with desiring more, but the things we “praise,” we “raise.” Express gratitude for the abundance you currently have, and you’ll begin to experience more of it in your life.
PROSPERITY PRACTICE #2: Recognize there is one Source with many channels.
Sometimes, a change in circumstances will cut one channel off – but if you look carefully, you’ll find another one appears in its place. This is because your source of abundance is life itself.
And keep in mind that not all of the abundance you’ll receive is monetary!
Some of the abundance you receive might be in the form of a new relationship or connection. You might receive an inheritance, if not of the monetary variety, then a treasured heirloom or sentimental object. Or, your abundance may even come in the form of an unexpected, inspired idea.
Think of it this way: Imagine a mountain lake with streams flowing down into the valley. If one stream dries up or becomes blocked by a boulder, another stream will move the water onward. It is the nature of water to flow from a source to lower ground, and when it comes across an obstacle it simply goes around it.
Abundance works in the same way.
You can remain abundant by aligning with Source, no matter the circumstances you face.
PROSPERITY PRACTICE #3: Circulate to accelerate.
There’s one more step I recommend anyone take when switching to an abundance-oriented mindset: stop worrying about what’s in it for you!
Believe it or not, this is the main issue keeping most people from achieving the prosperity they truly want and deserve in life.
Until you can give your time, talent and treasures to others without thinking about the outcome for yourself, you won’t really be able to welcome the flow of abundance into your life.
Give for the sake of giving, and you’ll experience greater abundance in your life.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said,
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
You may give your time, emotional support or ideas, and be rewarded with new opportunities. You may give financially and be rewarded with valuable knowledge or new connections…
Simply put, giving and receiving are two sides of the same coin. You can’t have one without the other.
By incorporating these three practices every day, you will naturally experience more prosperity in your life. Practice these keys and enjoy your newfound abundance!
Anchor your mind in abundance
There’s an unlimited supply for whatever it is that you would love and whatever good you can imagine. You are entitled to a full and ever-increasing supply of anything that you need or desire.
Hold the thought of wholeness even in the presence of what appears to be absence in your life.
You see, absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. Your circumstances do not define your possibilities.
If you can shift your perception through a daily gratitude practice and anchor your mind in abundance, then you will re-pattern your thinking and start to see evidence of the abundance that is everywhere present.
When you recognize abundance everywhere and align with it, you call it into your experience. Disregard your current condition and align with abundance by applying the principles stated in the recommended books above, and you will naturally experience more abundance in your life!
And now, here’s a question for you: What’s something you would love to have more of in your life?
Would you love to be abundant in the area of your love life and in your relationships?
Would you love to have more money in your bank account and feel free to go where you want to go, do what you want to do and give what you want to give?
If so, I have a gift for you!
Besides studying books on abundance like those covered above, many of the world’s most successful people use meditation to quiet their minds, tap into their intuition and more easily follow its guidance toward a freer, fuller and more expansive life.
