The Fastest Way to Blast Through Challenges and Turn Setbacks Into Stepping Stones

You’ve posted on social media daily for months, and yet your following is still small.

You’ve lost count of how many nights and weekends you’ve dedicated to building your group program, but enrollment is far from what you hoped it would be.

Or maybe you secured a speaking opportunity at an event – only to get a notification email two weeks later letting you know that the event was cancelled.

…All while battling imposter syndrome that won’t leave you alone.

You’d love for your coaching career to take off, so you keep working hard at it – and at the same time, you’re wondering what else you’re going to endure.

“When am I going to see light at the end of the tunnel?” you might think.

Building a coaching business isn’t simple.

You’ve already discovered that it’s not a straight line. There are ups and downs, moments of clarity and moments of complete doubt. You might feel thrilled one minute…and frozen in fear the next.

And here’s what I’ve learned after decades of helping people step into lives they love: Challenges and setbacks are not signs that you’re off track. They are not proof that your dream is impossible.

They are invitations.

Invitations to grow, expand, and become the version of you who is fully equipped to carry the vision you hold in your heart.

Unfortunately, many people don’t see it this way.

The hard truth? Most people fail to accomplish their dreams not because they didn’t have the talent or passion — but because they gave up too soon.

The good news is that this doesn’t have to be your story.

If you’re thinking about becoming a transformational life coach, or if you’ve already taken your first few steps but feel discouraged or unsure… this message is for you.

You are NOT alone.

And you absolutely have what it takes to reach your full potential — whatever your version of success looks like.

How do I know?

I’ll tell you a story that shows it in action…

A Chapter That Felt Like the End

I lost the work I’d built over 23 years.

A personal growth facility — a hundred square-foot building nestled among vibrant gardens where I poured my heart into teaching and uplifting others. Week after week, I spoke to our community about living a vision-driven life.

All of it… gone.

And the career I built with it — after being embezzled by someone I deeply trusted.

I was left with a ten-million-dollar debt. I was not just financially bankrupt, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

In fact, my local newspaper mocked me, claiming it would take 300 years to repay that debt.

For many people, that would’ve been the end of the story.

But for me, it became the turning point.

I retreated to the beach in solitude. I walked the shore asking myself painful questions: Could I ever rebuild? Was my calling to serve others over?

One day, as I walked with my feet in the surf and my heart cracked wide open, a single thought floated into my mind:

“This is a dark chapter. Not the whole book.”

In that moment, something shifted. It was small, quiet… but powerful. I realized that the fall wasn’t the end. That I could rise again.

And I did.

First, I repaid the entire debt –– all ten million –– in 12 years, not 300 like the newspaper said.

Then I went on to create not one, but two successful 8-figure businesses in personal and spiritual development. More importantly, I’ve had the honor of helping thousands of people transform their lives and reach their full potential.

So what changed? How did I do it?

One simple but powerful concept:

Spiritual resilience.

As Thomas Edison once said:

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try one more time.”

When it comes to reaching your potential, your success will never come from avoiding challenges…

It will come from how you respond to them.

So let’s talk about how to build the kind of resilience that keeps you moving forward — even when the going gets tough.

How to Reach Your Full Potential: 3 Steps to Tap Into Spiritual Resilience

Step 1: Notice Your Perception

When something challenging happens — whether it’s a client canceling, a launch that flops, or a deep fear that you’re not cut out for this — what’s your first reaction?

Usually, it’s a knee-jerk response. Fear. Doubt. A heavy weight in your chest that whispers: “Maybe this is a sign I’m not meant for this” or “Who am I kidding? I can’t be a coach, my life’s far from perfect.”

(Yes, you can absolutely become a coach even if your life isn’t perfect!)

At those moments, pause, notice what you’re thinking, and recognize this inner chatter for what it is: that’s not your truth. Those are your limiting beliefs.

It’s what I call “common hour thinking.”

Common hour thinking trains us to see obstacles as signs to stop. But in truth, perception is not about what happens to you — it’s about the meaning you assign to it.

Write down and remember this simple formula: Perception = Event + Meaning

When we’re unconscious of this, we assign meanings based on fear. It could be fear of failure, fear of losing our connection with the people we love, or even fear of success.

“This isn’t working.”

“I’m not good enough.”

“I’ll never make this a full-time career.”

But what if you could choose the meaning?

What if the setback is not a stop sign… but a stepping stone?

Noticing how you perceive events is the first key to reaching your full potential and thriving as a transformational coach.

Ask yourself:

“What meaning am I giving this? Is it helping me grow or keeping me stuck?”

If it’s the latter, you’re allowed to choose again.

Step 2: Choose a New Perspective

Once you become aware of your automatic perception, it’s time to step into Brave Thinking — to shift your lens.

This is where real power begins.

Notice what you’re noticing.

Are you looking at your situation through the eyes of limitation or through the lens of possibility?

In that moment on the beach, when I was heartbroken, buried under debt, and unsure of what came next — I could’ve chosen to believe that it was over. But instead, I reached for a “doorway thought.”

A thought that didn’t deny the pain, but opened the door to something new.

“This is a dark chapter… but not my whole book.”

That small shift gave me the energy to take my next step.

Here’s a tool you can use right now:

When you’re in the middle of a challenging situation, fill in the blanks of the following prompt:

“My first perception was… Now I realize…”

Example:

“My first perception was that this failure meant I’m not cut out to be a coach.

Now I realize it’s helping me become the coach I’m meant to be.”

You get to shape your perspective. Every single time.

And when you choose a perspective rooted in faith and possibility, you align yourself with the version of you who is already reaching your full potential.

Step 3: Reconnect to the Power of Your Purpose

When I was at rock bottom, the thing that kept me going wasn’t money. It wasn’t rebuilding my reputation.

It was my love for this work.

I had a deep knowing that I am here to serve others. That’s what lights me up. That’s what fills my soul.

And you have that within you too.

Your personal and professional journey as a coach will come with challenges. But purpose gives you staying power.

Purpose helps you rise when the doubt creeps in. It reminds you why this dream is worth pursuing. Purpose is your fuel.

So take a moment right now to reconnect:

Why did you say yes to this dream?

  • Was it because you want to help people live their purpose?
  • Because you’ve gone through your own transformation, and you know others can too?
  • Because you’re no longer willing to settle for a career that drains your spirit?

Feel free to grab a pen and paper and journal on it. Write it all down, so you can revisit it in the future when times get tough.

Your reason matters. And it can carry you through anything.

Once you reconnect to your purpose, it’s time to take aligned action.

What’s one next step you can take this week to move forward?

It might be reaching out to a mentor, booking a practice coaching session, or enrolling in a course. Whatever it is — write it down. Put it on your calendar.

You don’t have to have the whole plan. But you do need momentum.

Because when you combine purpose with action, you become *unstoppable* on the path to reaching your potential.

You Were Made for This

The truth is, the world needs you.

Not some perfect, polished version of you…

You, exactly as you are, with all your passion, lessons, and experiences.

You were made to create impact. To live your purpose. And to thrive.

And if you’re still not sure how to get there — if you want a clear path, structure, and support to finally make your coaching dream real — I’d love to invite you to the perfect next step:
