When you use free information to attract leads for your life coaching business, there’s a fine line you have to walk.
If you give away too much information, your audience may feel prematurely satisfied, believing they already have enough knowledge and don’t need to pay for more.
But if you give them too little information, or offer advice that’s too basic, they might think you have nothing unique or insightful to offer them, and they won’t believe you can help them.
So how can a life coach give away enough information to impress and help your audience, without making them think they have nothing else to learn?

Three ways to attract life coaching clients for free
In this blog post, I’ll give you three methods to choose from.
1. Give an overview
I this method, you give a bird’s eye view of your whole system.
Explain the obstacles that your client is facing and the benefits they stand to gain, and give an overview of the process you use to get them from where they are to where they want to go.
In this type of free material, you need to highlight the ways in which your methods are unique.
How are you different from all the other coaches who are working in your field?
How does your system help your clients in a more specific, deep or comprehensive way?
Why are the other methods you’ve seen less effective than what you’re offering?
2. Solve one small, specific problem
What is one of the first steps that your client needs to take in their journey?
For example, if you specialize in helping people to find their soulmate, you could write a blog post about how to find out where the people they want to date hang out.
Obviously this isn’t the whole process, and you should highlight this fact at the end of the free material.
Tell your audience, in specific terms, how to take an action or make a change that will start to benefit them right away, or answer a question that’s at the top of their minds.
Then explain what else they need to know and how they can get that knowledge by working with you.
3. Make them aware of a problem they didn’t realize they had
Many times, a client is aware that they have a problem, but they don’t understand the root cause.
So use a headline that addresses the problem they’re aware of – “Why Some People Get the Careers They Want, and Others Don’t,” for example – and then explain the hidden problems that are holding them back.
By doing this, you can make them aware of how much they need you, and you can show them that you understand what’s going on in their lives to a degree that other people don’t.
At the end of the article, blog post or video, explain to them what they need in order to overcome those deeper obstacles, and how you can give them those missing pieces.
At the end of each of your free materials, give a clear, specific call to action, so they know exactly how to proceed.
Tell them what link or button to click and where it is, what URL to type in, or what form to fill out.
Make it as easy as possible for them to act on your words and hire you as their life coach.
How do you spread these free materials?
Now you know how to create free samples that catch peoples’ attention and make them want to work with you.
But do you know how to get people to look at them?
Simply putting free material on the Internet doesn’t guarantee that the people who need you will see it.
You need to know where to publish your articles, how to get people looking at your website and blog, and how to bring traffic to your videos.
