There’s a passion, a calling in you to use your unique gifts and message to serve others and make a difference in the world.
But maybe instead of starting your own coaching business, you’ve been watching from the sidelines.
There may have been a point where you’ve thought to yourself, “I don’t know if I have what it takes, but I would really like to do that!”
If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
Today, we’re going to lean into that calling, discover your individual superpowers, and explore how they can come together to create an amazing life coaching practice.
And then I’ll share the tools necessary to start doing exactly that.
So, let’s get started!
The (Top 10) Superpowers of Coaching
In order to understand your individual coaching superpowers, let’s have a look at a few that most would consider “ordinary” at first glance.
It’s important to notice how these “common” traits are actually superpowers in disguise, and here’s why:
We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. We experience circumstances, situations, and conditions that don’t just manifest physical effects, but spiritual ones as well.
In the Bible, a holy book in Christianity, on the second epistle of Paul to the Corinthians 10:4, he teaches, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
As we go through our human experience, it can feel like we’re up against more than we can handle – like strongholds we couldn’t even begin to overcome on our own. But we believe that each one of us is far more powerful and contains more potential than any circumstance, situation, or condition.
And as a life coach, you would be equipping and training others with the spiritual weapons that will not only help them overcome their current strongholds, but all their future ones as well.
So as we go through each coaching superpower on the list, I challenge you to look beyond the surface and consider how powerful they are in making a difference in the lives of others.
Ultimately, these powers are all about connecting, communicating, and helping your clients succeed!
We have shared a whole list of skills great life coaches have, and in this post, we’re going to break down the top 10 and connect the dots so you have a better understanding of how they would directly impact your coaching clients:
1. Confidentiality:
Trust is a rare and comforting quality. Not everyone has the energetic capacity to hold space for another person’s emotions, secrets, and deepest desires. Your coaching clients will come to each coaching session with their longings, challenges, and dreams. By creating an environment of safety, trust, and intimacy, your clients will feel like you’re fully invested in their transformation. I recommend having a privacy policy on your website, a confidentiality clause in your coaching agreement, as well as other documents that help your clients feel served and cared for like waivers, disclaimers, and disclosures.
2. Active Listening:
When you engage in active listening, you show your client that he or she is important to you and that you understand where they’re coming from. Usually this looks like engaging in a conversation through relevant questioning, gesturing, and summarizing. This can be extremely powerful for your clients because it offers validation and understanding. This builds rapport and trust, which is essential for effective communication.
3. Empathy:
Your ability to empathize with your clients helps them feel understood and validated. It also makes them more willing to open up to you. Moreover, this doesn’t mean you “believe your client’s story” when it comes to their negative experiences or self-talk. Rather, you’re able to see them beyond the failure stories, stumbling blocks, and spiritual strongholds and help them tune into their own inner wisdom and power.
4. Compassion:
By genuinely caring about the experiences your clients are having, they will feel more empowered to share their hurt, successes, and stories. Compassion is a motivating energy that keeps both you and your client moving you forward as they overcome their circumstances and transform their dreams into reality.
5. Brave Thinking™ :
The energy you bring to your coaching conversations has a direct effect on everyone participating. If you consistently focus on the positive, you encourage positivity in your clients and help shift their vibration. This mindset of optimism and positive expectation is amplified through Brave Thinking™ and language (learn more about brave thinking principles here).
6. Growth Mindset:
Working with clients in a growth mindset makes it easier to identify areas of their lives where they can expand. This is a powerful tool for discovering blind spots they would be difficult to find on their own and accelerating your client’s desired results.
7. Integrity:
Honesty is one of the most valuable attributes of a good coach. One of our core values is “Integrity: We live what we teach, we deliver what we promise.” Staying true to this means being a student of transformation and practicing what you preach. And you deliver what you promise by having a proven system of transformation that can actually create results. You’ll also increase your client’s confidence in working with you because you stand behind your words and actions.
8. Passion to help:
Clients love working with someone who brings energy and enthusiasm to their work in a way that surprises and delights them! However, the sacred balance here is expressing passion without forcing what you think is “right” onto your clients. This is where the passion to help through evocative coaching is more impactful than directive coaching. That passion inspires them to take action, reach their goals, and follow their inner guidance as their highest authority.
9. Non-Judgmental:
As a transformational life coach, you’ll be an audience to a wide range of emotions, stories, and experiences. It’s of vital importance to create a safe space where your clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and being confident that the things they are sharing will guide them forward and bring them to greater clarity.
10. Curiosity:
Transformational life coaches experience the most success when they lean into the same spiritual principles they teach their clients. They also partner with the Infinite (Universe, source, God, etc.) to receive answers and mentor themselves as they grow. In short, great life coaches know that they can learn something from everything, and they don’t rely on their own knowledge. Instead, they look to the Infinite for guidance and support.
You possess certain qualities that are uniquely yours. But they aren’t just any old qualities; they’re superpowers. Now let’s talk about how you can discover your own!
What are my Coaching Superpowers?
By themselves, these traits seem like unlikely superpowers, but when combined, they make you an extraordinary coach.
So how do you know which ones are your superpowers?
The first step is self-reflection. Specifically, reflecting on which traits manifest in your life naturally? You can guide your thoughts with these questions:
Wha are your…
- gifts and talents?
- life experiences?
- skills and training?
- interests?
- What is your personality type?
- What makes you different?
The last one, “What makes you different?” can sound pretty vague.
Let’s break it down into more specific scenarios so you can identify your strengths in everyday situations:
- Do you find yourself naturally giving people your undivided attention?
- You may be a naturally-skilled active listener.
- Are you empathetic towards others and easily relate to their circumstances?
- This could be an expression of your empathy, compassion, and non-judgment.
- Are you able to embrace change and pivot quickly when new challenges arise?
- A combination of Brave Thinking™ and a growth mindset could be why you embrace changes so well.
- Do people come to you to share their challenges or and often accept your feedback?
- This could mean people tend to trust you – not just in keeping their secrets but also in the validity of your feedback.
- Do people recognize you as a subject matter expert and seek your guidance?
- As a curious person, the people around you may notice that you are always learning and have a wealth of knowledge to share.
As you consider these interactions, remember that what you may consider a natural, ordinary part of your personality can actually empower your coaching practice in extraordinary ways.
And when you put these superpowers all together, you get a very unique coach:
You.
At the end of the day, your most important superpower is knowing that you bring your own special magic to your clients as a unique individual, and no one else can market themselves as “you”.
And once you learn to recognize traits that naturally manifest in your life, you can start developing them through hands-on coaching.

Unleashing your Coaching Superpower
A lot of beginner coaches unknowingly make the mistake of “being all things for all people” instead of being true to themselves.
Often, this is the reason some coaches are able to attract clients easily while others struggle.
The latter tries to be everything to everyone and ends up attracting nobody because they simply haven’t calibrated their focus.
But successful coaches discover and embrace what sets them apart. They develop their coaching practice around their unique qualities and abilities, and who they best serve with those traits in mind.
Because the truth is, you want to set yourself apart. Not everyone is going to align with your personality, values, or your coaching superpowers – and that’s okay!
It’s about magnetizing clients who are the best fit and releasing the ones who can be best served by someone else.
Now let’s turn our attention to the coaching industry as a whole. It’s no secret that there are thousands of coaches out there — yet only a handful of them truly stand out.
Why is that?
Because most coaches tend to focus on the same basic services or practices. For example, most coaches spend time listening to clients, offering advice and helping them improve their performance with directive coaching.
However, some coaches go beyond those basics and add a few extra ingredients that make them special. You could, for example, evoke the answers your clients already know within themselves and empower them with time-tested, spiritual principles to help them create a life they love.
That’s what sets apart transformational life coaches, and it’s common for them to make more money and impact than traditional ones.
Transformational life coaches have a unique, heart-centered approach that helps their clients create the results they dream of. These coaches have a superpower!
So which one are you?
Are you just another “me too” coach? Or are you different?
Do you see yourself as someone who would love to use your coaching superpowers to make a difference in the world?
If you answered yes, congratulations! Your awareness brings you one step closer to bringing your superpowers into serving others.
Now let’s talk about how you can start putting them into practice.
How to Start Using Your Coaching Superpower to Make A Difference
That longing and desire you have to help others is a sacred calling, and there are people out there who are looking for only what you can offer.
I’m talking about people who will finally achieve the transformation they desire because they had the opportunity to work with YOU.

That’s the heart behind the training we do here at The Brave Thinking™ Institute. Just imagine being able to create results like Jadie, one of our coaches:
“I just wanted to share a deep feeling of gratitude for Mary and for this amazing program. I just finished my very first coaching call with my very first client and had chills and a few tears as she told me how she had literally prayed me up.
How she had gone to her knees with all of her problems. How seeing my post about my very first class was the next thing she had seen and how she knew it was the next step for her. Thank you, thank you for helping me build my dreams, and helping her build her dream as well.”
When you tap into your coaching superpowers and show up as your most authentic self, your clients will feel magnetized to you – as if they literally “prayed you up.”
Which means you get to work with people who are a perfect fit for your unique coaching superpowers!
